“We’re really happy to get him on board because we’ve lost Ben Gordon so now we’ve got competition between Rory McKeown and Jeroen,” manager Kenny Shield told STV.

“I think there were a few teams in for him but we were in early, very early in fact and I think he was impressed with how we play and what we can offer him from a football perspective.”

James McFadden has returned to former club Motherwell to undergo pre-season training.

The 29-year old Scotland international is looking to resurrect his career after an injury-hit last few seasons and has been given the opportunity by ‘Well boss Stuart McCall to train with the squad with a short-term deal potentially on the cards.

McFadden was released by Everton at the end of last season after signing a deal in October but the Toffees hardly used him and his second stint at Goodison Park was over.

McFadden has been unable to get back to his best since seriously injuring a knee whilst with Birmingham City in 2010 and is hoping he can get back to playing regularly, quite possible with Motherwell who he left in 2003 to join Everton.

The 25-year old Scotland international, who is still sidelined by a knee injury, has become disillusioned with the situation at Ibrox and will not switch his contract over to Charles Green’s newco.

That has left Naismith as a free agent with English top flight newcomers Southampton joining the race for his signature alongside West Bromwich Albion, West Ham United and Everton according to SunSport.

Southampton are also believed to be showing interest in ‘Gers skipper Steven Davis and young midfielder John Fleck as the Glasgow club prepare for a summer exodus.

Green to move forward despite three more clubs saying they will vote no to Rangers newco | Scottish Football News | Tribal Football

The Rangers crisis deepened last night with the news that three more clubs say they will vote no to Charles Green’s newco.

The Rangers crisis deepened last night with the news that three more clubs say they will vote no to Charles Green’s newco.

The Ibrox club are hoping that at least eight Scottish Premier League clubs vote for them remaining in the top flight but it appears as though they will be forced down to the Third Division after Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Aberdeen and St Johnstone confirmed last night they would vote against the new company.

Those three clubs have joined Dundee United, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian leaving Green’s Rangers in a quandary but the new owner insists he is still keen to get the Glasgow club back on track.

“I’m obviously disappointed, but we have to deal with the cards we have been dealt,” he told Sky Sports.

“It’s unfortunate people have come out and made these comments when my understanding was that there was going to be a vote next Wednesday, but I can’t control other clubs.

“The consortium realised that if we went down the newco route it was a risk. It doesn’t alter their resolve.

“Those guys invested knowing these were obstacles that were outside their control and the resolve is there to see this job finished.

“I said at Murray Park on 13th May that my job will be finished when we have got financial security, when the debts are paid, when it’s floated on the stock market and the fans have got the right and the opportunity to buy shares. And nothing has changed since 13th May.”

Bayern have been linked with the former Barcelona coach for season 2013/14.

“If the commitment is there and he can successfully coach a team in Germany, then it would be no fluke.”
